Medical Marijuana Petition Clears Signature Threshold!

It’s official: South Dakota voters will have a chance to legalize medical marijuana on Election Day 2020! South Dakota Secretary of State Steven Barnett announced that the citizen-initiated petition championed by New Approach South Dakota had collected the required number of signatures to officially qualify for the ballot.

Though the petition required 16,961 valid signatures to qualify, the campaign ultimately submitted 25,524, according to state’s official count. The initiative will appear before voters as Initiated Measure 26 in November.
