Adult-Use Legalization Initiative Qualifies for the 2020 Ballot!
On Monday, January 6, the South Dakota Secretary of State announced that SDBML’s constitutional amendment petition to legalize and regulate marijuana for adults has cleared the required signature threshold. Voters will now have the opportunity to end marijuana prohibition in South Dakota on Election Day 2020!
In an impressive feat, the campaign gathered over 50,000 signatures in under two months to meet the required threshold. This news follows on the heels of another recent announcement that a statutory medical marijuana measure has also qualified for the November ballot. That means South Dakota will become the first state to vote on medical marijuana and adult-use legalization initiatives simultaneously!
